  • Аннотация:In Russia mineral waters have been the main object of study of water up to the XVIII century because of its distinctive features. High salt content in it helped to identify the diversity of these waters and to allow the use of insensitive methods of direct determination of the solution. It helped to use the mineral springs rationally for medical purposes and it is regulated by the relevant regulations and decrees. Mineral water research has created the first systematic lists of all known Russian mineral water with a detailed description, which subsequently formed the basis of the first classifications. Until the turn of XIX-XX centuries study of mineral waters were carried out in the framework of the theoretical concepts of the theory of infiltration, but in the XX century these ideas changed juvenile waters theory by E. Suess. It was developed by a number of Russian scientists who laid the foundations of a new science complex about the healing properties of mineral waters. In Russia, the first written message about mineral waters which differed from ordinary water and had medicinal properties dates back to 1714 (Martsial waters in Olonets province). Then they opened mineral water in Lipetsk, in the Caucasus and other regions of Russia. By the end of the XIX century it was known more than 500 sources and there were more than 50 resorts. The resorts network was created in 250 years and it had included 14 thousand resorts. At the same time these resorts could take about 2.25 million vacationists. Now Russia is the leader in the global system of therapeutic recreation. A network of spa facilities has more than 2 thousand resorts with a total capacity of more than 400 thousand positions.
